The Cheers of Greencastle

Described by Go Putnam as "quaint and quirky," Moore's Bar and Grill, aka "The Cheers of Greencastle", delivers a unique atmosphere

and a vibrant community that has been 75 years in the making.

Established shortly after the Prohibition, we have stood the test of time, and weathered multiple ownership changes, because of our

ability to create family and friendships within an environment of outstanding refreshment and fun.

Moore's Bar and Grill started as Hoffman's Bar in 1934. It became Dutch Carlin's Bar in 1944 and later Moore's Bar in the 1950’s when it passed into the hands of the Moore family. Over the next 60 years, Roy and Inez (Dutch Carlin’s sister) Moore and their daughters, Carolyn, Jenny, Lois established the location as a vibrant bar and restaurant for anyone in the Greencastle area and beyond.

It is only fitting that a place as central to the Greencastle community should remain in local hands. Putnam County locals Jay and Jackie Hopkins purchased Moore’s in 2011. In 2018 Greencastle natives Pete and Julie Meyer stopped by for a meal as they renovated Pete's childhood home. They left with a way to make their mark on the Greencastle community.

Pete and Julie grew up in Greencastle and later met and kindled a romance at their high school reunion. Despite living in Florida, their roots, and their hearts, remained firmly planted in Greencastle. They wanted to retire to the area and give back to their community.

Pete and Julie purchased Moore's in 2019 and have committed to maintaining the Moore's tradition while adding their own fresh take on the menu and environment.

For the last 75 years, Moore's Bar and Grill has remained consistently beloved as one of Greencastle's most familiar and sought-after destinations. Stop by and find out why for yourself, as Roy and Inez always said, “We Like It Here!”
